Make sure you head over to my Instagram to watch the rennovation of our Gig Harbor house!
Escrow closed on our new Gig Harbor property yesterday and we’re officially homeowners again!!
It took four months of looking in person, 11 months of looking online 🤪 and dozens of blue shoe bootie/mask-covered Covid showings to find this home — but we did it! Thank you for sharing in all of it with us 🏡.
New year, same me.
It’s 2021, so here’s a quick ‘oh, hey there!’ for anyone new.
I’m a longtime newspaper reporter turned stay-at-home mom, stepping out from above the fold to do my own thing as a writer. 🤞🏻 What you’ll get from me are stories about places to take kids. Except now with the pandemic and our big move from California to Washington, you’ll also see our endless search for a house, a remodel, cabin life, and all the ways this California girl is settling into the Evergreen State.
The Alderbrook Resort & Spa in Union Washington is a dreamy Pacific Northwest getaway boasting rooms with a view, rare Hood Canal waterfront access, and the absolute coolest and most whimsical surprises during the holidays. We felt pampered and taken care of — and we can’t wait to go again. At the Alderbrook Resort & Spa in Union Washington, I felt safer with the hotel’s thoughtful pandemic protocols such as hand sanitizer stations everywhere, clear rules posted, and a well-organized crowd-control reservation system at the pool area. Plus, they implemented all these in cozy/home-like ways that weren’t sterile or scary which I appreciate for my little fam.
Make sure to snag my Alderbrook Resort promo code from this post before you visit!
Here’s a little story about a time when the kids taught me a much-needed lesson in not rushing, and how to live in the moment.
It all started when we were leaving Potlach State Beach, and the kids didn’t want to get in the car.
We made it to our very FIRST Washington pumpkin patch yesterday 🎉 and it checked off all the boxes: ✔️…
Potlatch is an 84-acre park with camping and water access, also along the Hood Canal. I think it’s a little more scenic than Twahna because of the fallen logs and visible tree-capped hillsides. It also has … buried treasure! Read on to see what we found 🙂
It’s been eight weeks since we moved to Washington. And while we are househunting, we are livin’ it up in a family cabin on a golf course along the Hood Canal.
If you ever travel to the Pacific Northwest, make sure to put the Alderbrook Golf Club and the Hood Canal on your bucket list.
Let me tell you about Twanoh Creek – because the kids and I love a good creek.
You’ll find this one at Twanoh State Park, in Union Washington.
When we visited Twanoh State Park in August, it was interesting expanse of shoreline because the shallow water stays warm in the summer, a creek flows into the canal and there are shells all over the ground.
