Tacoma Spraygrounds!

Is it just me, or is “sprayground” just the coolest play on words ever?! WAY more fun than the regular ‘ol splash pads.

Well, Metro Parks Tacoma came out with a reminder last week to visit its ten spraygrounds before the water goes off on Oct. 1, 2023.

Here’s a closer look at all ten locations  – plus some splash pad hygiene tips from the CDC.

Puyallup Farmers’ Market

A joyful playground just 10 steps from the merchant tents, soft chewy cookies the size of your face, and a snazzy indoor market component are just some of the things that make the popular Puyallup Farmers’ Market extra family-friendly every Saturday from April to October at Pioneer Park.

And this is coming from someone who isn’t even a farmers’ market person!!

I know! I’m terrible! But, hear me out. Because this particular farmers market, with its chatty/helpful community vibe, is conjuring up a major change of heart for this Washington newbie.

Walking the Tacoma Narrows Bridge

This year, the kids and I walked across the Tacoma Narrows Bridge – something I’ve been wanting to do since we moved here!

After weeks of rain, we saw a moment of sunlight and dry skies. So with a skip, hop, and one possibly illegal parking spot later, we went for it!

And now I can say with certainty that the bridge walk was absolutely incredible for us, but only after I discussed a few safety rules with the kids. You’ll see why in a minute.

Read on for all the deets on how we walked the Tacoma Narrows Bridge from the Gig Harbor side.
