DAY 4 in our #CentralCoastTopNineWonders series takes us along the vast coastline adjacent to Morro Rock at Morro Strand State Beach. This three-mile stretch of coast is my favorite beach. It has sand dunes, the famous snowy plover and prime sanddollar-hunting at low tide.
DAY 3 of our #CentralCoastTopNineWonders is …. iconic Morro Rock.
I’ve always been so in love with this geological staple on our coast. It makes a fantastic backdrop for photos of the kids, and can be seen far away in the distance.
Coming in on DAY 2 of our #CentralCoastTopNineWonders Kiddo Edition are the Nine Sisters mountain range!
The Nine Sisters is a chain of rocky peaks from SLO to Morro Bay that is easily the most distinctive geological landmark welcoming people to our area.
On a whim, my 2 and 4 year old kiddos and I recently explored the Morro Bay Harborwalk. We were met with thrill-worthy beach swings, playful sea otters that tumbled and twirled in the calm harbor waters and boats that passed us as we ran along the expansive slated boardwalk.
The Morro Bay Marina Boardwalk in scenic Morro Bay, California offers fresh ocean-scapes, quaint harbor views and a slatted boardwalk perfect for kids.
From singing and dancing at the library to strolling alongside the waterfront – we’ve got ya covered. Here are some of our absolute favorite quick-hits for things to do in SLO County with very small children.
On my first visit to the Morro Bay Skateboard Museum, I went in knowing basically nothing about the sport. Afterward, I left enchanted with wooden boards, skating legends, and a newfound longing to run home and google all the lingo.
Plus, the kids and I got to pose on top of the world’s second-largest skateboard!
This park is known for its 28-foot climbing structure , complete with crazy tall lookout points and a GIANT tube slide that dips down from the top lookout. It also has lots of grass, a beautiful creek and bridge, perfect for littles, and nice restrooms.
Cayucos Beach is one of our faves for taking little kids to the beach because it has free parking, public bathrooms, an outside shower spout for rinsing off, lifeguard towers and …. it also has a playground right on the sand!
Exploring the Morro Bay Embarcadero with kids is one of our hands-down favorite adventures. So much so, I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to write about it. This day includes rides, treats, pretty views, TAFFY and a chance to feed some awesome seals.
This adventure takes you to the lovely sea fishing town of Morro Bay, California. It’s famous for the iconic Morro Rock, one of SLO County’s “Nine Sisters” of volcanic peaks stretching along Highway 1. Morro Rock is the only one of the peaks sitting in the water. Elsewhere, the city is made up of a small but vibrant downtown, homes, beach life and a bustling harbor. Along that harbor, you’ll find The Embarcadero.
